Career highlights

  • Made his BAM NYC Debut in 2024 / Four features in the New York Times and New Yorker between 2021-2024

  • Directed three new productions for San Francisco Opera between 2021-2022; two mainstage productions and a drive-in experience on the Coachella stage.

  • Was appointed the Chief Artistic Administration Officer at Lyric Opera of Chicago; an executive leadership position newly created for the organization. In total, he has work at Lyric Opera of Chicago for seventeen seasons.

  • Made his directorial debut at Lyric Opera of Chicago (Nabucco) the same night that he made his debut at Carnegie Hall with the Grammy Award winning ensemble, Eighth Blackbird.

  • Started Mozawa, a non-profit company in Chicago to incubate collaborative art.

  • Made his directorial debut at Santa Fe Opera in 2018 after beginning his career journey there as an apprentice in 2004. In total, he worked at The Santa Fe Opera for nine season in various staff and director roles.

FUN FACTS

  • Sat through an entire performance of Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring at the age of 3. He’s loved orchestral music ever since.

  • Traveled around Asia to watch Asian art forms including Japanese Kabuki & Noh, Javanese Dance, and Peking Opera.

  • Collects coffee table books from fashion exhibits to art icons to 18th & 19th Century photographs.

  • Loves Beyonce, dancing and laughter.
